This page provides a brief overview of the services I offer. See the terms & conditions for a full description.
Editing
I work with the following document formats:
- MS Word;
- ODT; and
- Google Docs.
Some editors only provide a marked-up copy of your document, leaving you to work through their suggested alterations. That can be confusing, especially after several passes through your document, and will leave you with a lot of work.
I will provide*:
- A marked-up copy that is an amalgamation of all editing passes. I will make at least three passes, and as many as are necessary, and
- A clean copy for informational purposes that incorporates all the suggested changes.
*Excluding Google Docs documents.
** Because of ethical considerations, a clean copy may not be provided with academic or legal proofreading.
See terms & conditions.

I work with the text line by line to eradicate spelling, grammar, syntax, and other mistakes, which is why proofreading is sometimes called line editing.
Copy editing:
Copy editing is correcting spelling, grammar, and syntax mistakes, light editing and rewriting, and checking for the following:
- UK, US, Australian, Canadian, and Indian English.
- Documents should be in Word/ODT/Google Docs format only. A minimum of three passes through the text, and as many as are necessary.
- Proofreading.
- Point out wordiness.
- Point out clunky transitions and suggest alternative wording.
- Confusing syntax.
- Point out sentences or paragraphs that seem egregiously wordy or convoluted and suggest alternative wording.
- Point out problematic or misused words and suggest an alternative word.
- Homophones.
- Querying faulty organisation and gaps in logic.
- Point out facts, names, etc., that appear to be incorrect.
- Making light revisions to the text.
- One revision is included in the price.
